Tyler Lestak
Senior Robotics Engineer
Tyler completed a B.S. in Astrophysics at UC San Diego where he worked with the Ni Group on dark matter detection using liquid Xenon. He then went on to complete a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at San Diego State University where he worked in Dr. Kevin Wood's Lab to develop and automate a cold spray additive manufacturing system for next generation batteries. In 2020, the team took time away from battery research to develop a low cost ventilator system to combat the rising COVID-19 pandemic.
Inspired by his involvement in the ventilator system, Tyler has since worked in the medtech industry as a Robotic Systems Engineer. He has experience in development and verification testing on systems ranging from large robotic surgical arms to microscale injectable robots.
